The 86338M impact socket set includes two entirely different socket profiles for each size: a Standard-length run for low-clearance spaces and a Deep-length run. The deep configuration features a hollow internal channel designed to pass straight over extra-long structural studs, allowing you to seat the socket all the way down onto the nut without bottoming out.

Can I use these sockets safely with cordless ¼” or ⁵ᐟ₁₆” hex impact drivers?

The set includes a specialized  ⅜ Hexagon Shank Pin-Type Adapter. This component locks securely into the quick-change chuck of construction-grade cordless impact drivers, adapting them directly into a standard ⅜ square drive to handle all 32 sockets in the kit.

Why are these sockets black instead of shiny chrome?

These tools are forged from Chrome Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel and treated with a black phosphate finish.
