  • What is the difference between 84304P and standard impact sockets? Standard sockets have much thicker walls and can easily scratch the paint inside the lug nut hole of an alloy wheel. The 84304P is significantly slimmer and adds a plastic layer to ensure the metal socket never touches the wheel.
  • Can the plastic sleeve be removed? Yes. For wheels with extreme tolerances where even the sleeve is too wide, the plastic shield can be slid off to provide maximum clearance.
  • Why use Chrome Molybdenum (Cr-Mo)? When the wall of a socket is made “super thin,” the steel must be higher quality to prevent breaking. Cr-Mo is more flexible than standard steel, allowing it to “give” slightly under the pulse of an impact gun.
  • How does the internal plastic insert work? It acts as a cushion for the top of the lug nut. This prevents the socket from “bottoming out” and scratching the chrome or painted finish of the bolt itself.
