What is the benefit of the “Q” Quick-Release button? The Q-Function provides a positive lock. In standard ratchets, a socket might fall off if it gets stuck on a bolt head. With the 4100Q series, the socket is mechanically locked onto the ratchet until you press the button, ensuring it never falls into an engine or machine accidentally.
Does the 36 teeth design make the tool slower? While a 72-teeth ratchet has a smaller swing, the 36 teeth design is significantly more durable. In 1/2″ drive applications, you are typically dealing with larger fasteners where strength is more important than a tiny swing arc. This gear ensures the tool won’t slip under high pressure.
How do I maintain the Quick-Release mechanism? The 4100Q series is designed for a long service life. Periodically applying a drop of light machine oil into the release button and the switch lever area will keep the internal plunger and 36 teeth gear operating smoothly.
