What is the “Budd Wheel” socket in the 86609A set used for? The 13/16″ 4-point (Square) socket in the 86609A set is a specialized tool for the inner cap nuts of dual-wheel truck axles. Most trucks use a 6-point hex for the outer nut, but a square nut for the inner stud. This set provides both in one kit.

Why are the metric sockets only up to 57mm long? The 86609M sockets are designed for maximum torque transfer. By keeping the length to 54-57mm, the tool is much stiffer than a deep socket. This ensures that every bit of power from your impact gun goes into turning the bolt, rather than vibrating the tool.

Is this set safe for use with 1″ drive tools? This is a ¾” Drive set. While you can use a 1″ to ¾” adapter, we recommend using a ¾” impact wrench. The safety pin holes and the socket mass are specifically balanced for ¾” drive anvil speeds and torque ratings.
