Why use a 12-point deep socket for metric fasteners? The 12-point (Bi-Hex) design is highly efficient for metric fasteners in tight engine bays. It allows you to engage the nut every $30^\circ$ of rotation, compared to $60^\circ$ for a 6-point socket, which is a major advantage when ratchet space is limited.
Does this set include SAE (Inch) sizes? No. The 4602-2MB is a dedicated Metric-only set. This ensures a more compact and focused kit for technicians working exclusively on European or Japanese machinery.
What is the purpose of the Satin finish on the bottom? It is an ergonomic safety feature. Mirror-polished sockets are very slippery when oily. The Satin lower finish provides the friction needed to hand-tighten bolts before applying full torque with a ratchet.
Can I use these with an Impact Wrench? No. These are Hand Sockets manufactured from Chrome Vanadium (Cr-V). For impact use, you must use Hans Cr-Mo (Chrome Molybdenum) impact-rated sockets to avoid tool failure.
