Why do I need the EDFP kit instead of a simple primer bulb? Most modern diesel vehicles use specialized snap-on fuel connectors. A simple bulb won’t seal properly. The EDFP Diesel Fuel Priming Pump Set comes with vehicle-specific couplers that click into the factory lines. It provides an “Absolute” airtight seal so you aren’t pulling more air into the system while trying to bleed it.
Can this be used on Common Rail Diesel (CRD) engines? Yes. In fact, it is an “Absolute” necessity for CRD systems that do not have a self-priming electric pump in the tank. Using the EDFP prevents you from running the high-pressure pump dry, which can cause catastrophic metal-on-metal wear.
Is the bulb resistant to bio-diesel and additives? The EDFP bulb is made from high-grade nitrile rubber specifically designed for diesel fuels, including modern bio-diesel blends. For “Absolute” tool life, we recommend flushing the transparent lines with clean fuel after use to prevent staining.
