Technical FAQ: 1561M Truck Axle Service
- Q: Why is the 219mm length critical for MAN and DAF service?
- A: Truck axles have deep offsets. A standard slogging wrench is often too long, hitting the chassis or outer bodywork. The 219mm length allows the technician to swing a hammer with a full range of motion while the wrench is seated deep within the hub.
- Q: Which profile do I need for DAF XF series?
- A: For DAF XF95, 105, and 106 models, the 1561M-26 (26mm 12-point) is the standard requirement for hub and chassis maintenance.
- Q: Can I use this with a standard chrome socket?
- A: No. Because this tool is designed for impact, only use Hans 3/4″ Drive Impact Sockets (Cr-Mo). Chrome-vanadium sockets can shatter under the intense shock loads of a slogging wrench strike.
- Q: Maintenance:
- A: Keep the striking anvil clean. If the metal begins to “mushroom” after years of heavy service, lightly grind the edges back to prevent metal shards from flying during a strike.
