Q: Is the Ribe profile compatible with Torx or XZN (Triple Square) fasteners?
A: While they may look similar to the untrained eye, a Ribe (Polydrive) bolt has a flat-topped spline geometry. Attempting to use a Torx or XZN bit will result in immediate fastener stripping. The 4029 is a specialized module specifically for Ribe hardware found in VW, Audi, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo engines.
Q: At the 140mm length (4029-5), is there a risk of the bit snapping?
A: Hans 100mm+ bits are specifically heat-treated to manage the increased leverage of extra-long reach. By utilizing S2 steel, the tool maintains its shape. However, we always recommend a direct, vertical alignment. If the tool is tilted at these lengths, the lateral stress increases.
Q: Can these be used with a 1/2″ Impact Wrench?
A: The 4029 series are Hand Bit Sockets. The S2 steel is optimized for hardness and static torque. The rapid hammering of an impact wrench can cause S2 steel to shatter. For power tools, you must use Hans Impact-Rated (Cr-Mo) bits.
Q: Why choose the 1/2″ Drive 4029 over the 3/8″ Drive 3029?
A: Torque capacity. The 1/2″ drive architecture of the 4029 allows you to use larger ratchets and breaker bars for M10, M12, and M14 bolts (typically cylinder head or transmission bolts) that require significantly more “break-away” force than 3/8″ tools can safely provide.
