Feature
Why does Hans use S2 steel for the bit and Cr-V for the base? This is “Absolute” Engineering. S2 Steel is incredibly hard and resists twisting (torsion), making it perfect for the Star tip. Chrome Vanadium is tough and slightly ductile, making it the perfect material for the 1/2″ drive base that takes the pressure from the ratchet. Together, they create a tool that won’t snap.
When should I choose the 4024-8 (200mm) over the standard 4024? You need the 4024-8 when a bolt is hidden deep inside a machine or engine and you can’t get your hand or a regular ratchet close enough. The 200mm reach acts like its own extension bar, giving you a direct connection to the bolt.
Are these suitable for impact use? No. These are Hand Sockets. For pneumatic or cordless impact guns, you should use the 84024 series made of Chrome-Molybdenum (Cr-Mo). These 4024 sockets are designed for precision use with manual ratchets and torque wrenches.
